so close, yet so far away

some friends of ours just returned from a trip to new zealand and raved about it...cheap, great food and drink, and beautiful scenery. we've been meaning to go and are now all the more excited...hopefully, we'll go when leslie returns from deployment.

seeing as new zealand is on this part of the world and practically our neighbors, we assumed prior to coming here that we'd be privy to its famous exports--wine and lamb, for instance. however, the only lamb i've been able to find on island comes in the form of dog food (lucky gordon), and the only new zealand wine i've encountered are a couple of mediocre, overpriced pinots and sauvignon blancs that i'd be hesitant to even cook with.

at least we can get bud light here. yeah guam. show em how it's done.
