home phone # (originally sent aug 14th, '07)
we move into our rental house this thursday. our homephone # is .... it'll be nice to get thehell out of this hotel and have some space to movearound. the navy is dropping off free rentalfurniture until our household goods arrive next month.gordon has a fenced in yard to run around in at thisrental house. he is doing well.no cell phones yet. we'll probably just get prepaid(per minute) phones and not use em that much. guam'scell industry is where the us mainland's was about6-7yrs ago--shitty and expensive. so call us at home.although we don't have an actual home phone as we'vesolely used cell phones since med school. i will tryto buy one tomorrow.apparently leslie's car got here fri so we go to pickit up tomorrow. i've had 2 interviews the last 2 days. one called .... is the one i've liked the mostthus far. they do both clinic and hospital medicineand peds, and no obstetrics (which is fine by me). supposedly they're going to take leslie and me out todinner soon, which is the 1st place that's offered todo so. kinda weird nobody else has offered given thateverybody seems to be in need of docs and wine-ing anddining prospective docs is pretty standard stateside,i think. leslie didn't end up taking call or having clinictoday as the credentialing of all the incoming newdocs at the naval hospital hasn't gone through yet. the hilton right down the street from our house ishaving a taste of guam type event this weekend whichwe hope to attend.we went to that wine tasting last weekend at a localwine shop which was alright...it took almost 3 hrs totaste 11 wines. wines were ok, but the pours weregenerous. i think all the patrons were militarypeople. my favorite was a lambrusco from australia (ithink it's an italian red grape that's served chilledand is quite refreshing in this climate). we bought abottle and it's gone. it was dissappointing to seetheir wa wine selection though...pretty much the sameeveryone else has-vintages that are past their prime. the distributor must be the same. they did carryabout 10 varieties of rogue beer however.hope all are well.-mike
