guam arrival (originally sent july 27th, 2007

just wanted to drop a line and let you all know wearrived safely and on time at 1AM fri. i managed tostay up until our flight from japan to guam at 9pm, soi think i probably beat jet lag. leslie had to gocheck in at her hospital at 8am, and she'll likely bethere all day. she slept during most of our 6hrlayover in tokyo, so we'll see how she does withadjusting.i am currently at the uso, which fortunately is in thehotel right across the street from the marriott wherewe're staying. they have free internet, long distancephone and snacks. i've picked up our rental car andchecked out the navy base. i was extremely dismayedby the wine and beer selection on base--the only wawine selections were from chateau ste. michelle andcolumbia. pray for me. somehow they have rogue beerthough, albeit $10/6pk. i guess i'll just have tomake my own wine and beer. if you come visit,remember to bring some pacific nw wine.it is hot and humid just like we were told. but we'veexperienced this before in thailand, vietnam, and thedominican republic and apparently it only takes a fewwks to adjust.i think i'll go snorkeling now (beach is right infront of the hotel). and yes, we bought oursnorkeling gear at costco.gordon should've just arrived and hopefully we'll gosee him later today. he has a 12 day quarantine thathe's very excited about.hope everyone is well.love,mike
